Day 213…people power can be magical

If you have time, listen to the great TED talk about iNaturalist and how people power is changing the face of species identification and celebrating biodiversity around the world.

I joined iNaturalist 3 years ago and very quickly recognized a supportive and committed community of citizen scientists. As a novice, I never felt like I didn’t know what I was doing. I’d upload my observation, take my best guess of what it was, if I didn’t know, and then wait for others to help me identify. I have learned a lot from other people.

Taking time to notice nature around us and sharing observations with others is not only about taking a moment to be present in nature, but also to celebrate all of these creatures around us.
