Day 31…sadness and beauty

As I tried to look in from the other side, I could hear the buzzing of flies and looked down to see that two hatchlings had been killed. Though I haven’t seen a cat around lately, it looked like it might have been the work of one. Don’t get me started on my thoughts about outdoor cats and their impact on song birds. Let’s just say that a certain Jonathan Franzen character would be in agreement with me.

But while this is happening, with sadness rising, my little neighbour down the street began his daily recorder playing. Sadness and beauty intertwined.
